Item Activity concentration of Ra-226 in agricultural soils(Turkish Atomic Energy Authority, 2000-10) Akyıl, Sema; Aytaş, Şule; Aslani, Mahmoud A. A.; Eral, Meral; Bölüm YokThe distribution of 226Ra in agricultural soils has been studied. Twenty four soil samples were collected to a depth of 20 cm from Aegean Region of Turkey. Activity concentrations of 226Ra in samples were determined by a radioanalytical method and measured by using an alpha scintillation detector. The radioanalytical method has been applied for the soil of 1 g to determine o f this radioisotope concentration. The both detection and chemical efficiencies were performed using standard radioactive solution of Ra-226. The recovery yield of radiochemically pure 226Ra was found to be 90%. The average concentration of 226Ra were 0.186 Bq/g and their distribution fitted a normal curve. The data obtained was evaluated to explain of 226Ra distribution in the agricultural area and compared with the other results in the literature.Item Cesium-137 activity in soil from an agricultural land in West Anatolia(Turkish Atomic Energy Authority, 2000-10) Aslani, Mahmoud A. A.; Yaprak, Günseli; Aytaş, Şule; Akyıl, Sema; Eral, Meral; Yener, Güngör; 155509; Bölüm YokDue to the radiocesium derived from the accident at Chernobyl in 1986 deposited on the soil, this study presents experimental data on Cs-137 activity concentrations in soil samples taken from agricultural land of Aegean Region in Turkey in 1997 and 1998. The activity of Cs-137 for these soil samples was found in the range between 0.92±0.15 Bq/kg and 20.75±0.29 Bq/kg. The distribution of Cs-137 in the soil can differ, being dependent on soil properties.Item Investigation of impurity parameters and natural radioactivity of NIF rivulet(Turkish Atomic Energy Authority, 2000-10) Yavuz, Mesut; Eral, Meral; Bölüm YokItem Investigation of uranium adsorption by using coconut shell(2000-10) Aslani, Mahmoud A. A.; Akyıl, Sema; Aytaş, Şule; Eral, Meral; 155509; Bölüm YokAt the present study, we investigated the basic features of uranium uptake from dilute aqueous solution by using coconut shell and the effect of uranium on this adsorption phenomena. It has also been shown that the adsorption of uranium was affected with some factors such as pH, uranium concentration, and contact time.Item Preparing activated carbon from charcoal and investigation of the selective uranium adsorption(Turkish Atomic Energy Authority, 2000-10) Kütahyalı, Ceren; Eral, Meral; 162663; Bölüm YokItem Selective uranium adsorption on activated carbon(Turkish Atomic Energy Authority, 2000-10) Karadeniz, Murat; Eral, Meral; Kütahyalı, Ceren; 147129; Bölüm Yok
