Abstract
A 37-cc lithium-drifted germanium defector has been used in conjunction with the ÇNAEM neutron crystal sectrometer to examine the gamma-ray spectrum arising from neutron resonance capture in 149Sm. The effective Gamma-ray energy resolution of 0.6-2.4 keV allowed 17 transitions to be examined in the energy range between 109 and 1806 keV following the capture of 0.0976 eV resonance neutrons in 149Sm. The spectrum is intepreted in terms of the levels In the compound nucleus, 150Sm. An analysis of the reduced intensities of 38 El transitions which consist of 9 secondary, and 29 primary transitions indicates that they have a cumulative Porter-Thomas distribution. A similar, analysis has been applied to 15 M1 transitions which consist of 4 secondary and 11 primary, transitions.
