Abstract
The oxygen content cf steel samples was determined using the 0(15) (n, p)N16 reaction produced by the interaction of 14 MeV neutrons. A pneumatic transfer system allowing the rapid transfer of the irradiated samples to the counting position was used due to the short half-life of the product N15 isotope. Mylar films placed inside a steel cylinder were used as standards for the quantitative analysis. Consequently, the oxygen amounts in eleven different samples were found between 77 ± 4 ppm and 1248 ± 95 ppm.
